The ultimate romantic hideaway with a beautiful private pool - one of our most sought-after properties. Far from the madding crowds, Quercitellu is the ultimate romantic hideaway. In this bewitching spot there is little to beat simply sitting in the shade of the vine-hung trellis and dreaming the hours away over a bottle of chilled wine. Quercitellu is an ancient bergerie which has been beautifully converted, old stones being used to add a charming new bathroom to the vaulted building whose massive walls now enclose a comfortable studio room with an open fireplace, a double bed and a pretty little kitchenette. The interior is small yet has been decorated and furnished with taste. In front, an orchard of fruit trees leads down to the gorgeous swimming pool with massage jets and to a small stream. Just two or three other old houses, including a beautifully restored mill downstream, share the access road, which is not metalled so a four-wheel drive vehicle is supplied. However, Quercitellu is a spot from which its hard to drag oneself away, and as theres a barbecue in the garden, al fresco eating at home is a real treat. For the odd foray out, Ville di Paraso, a beautiful Balagne village with a small general store and a bar is about 1km above and the nearest restaurants are in Speluncato (3km) and Belgodere (6km). The coastal town of Ile Rousse is about 15km, beyond the 6-hole golf course of Regino, and wonderfully unspoilt Lozari Beach is the same distance; inland is the forest of Tartagine, an area of magnificent mountains. | |
