This attractively designed property was recently turned over to the Cuban Gaviota company, after the Jamaican Superclubs chain was forced out by U.S. pressure. Its too early to tell if service and atmosphere will change much under the new management. The resort has traditionally offered an excellent value facility for families, with whom it is extremely popular. Although rooms do not have sea or beach views, they are quite large, with very nice decor in bright greens and blues, tile floors, and balconies or terraces. They represent some of the best-equipped and -designed rooms Ive seen among high-end beach hotels in Cuba. A spectacular section of Playa Pesquero is a 5-minute walk from the pool over a bridge and wetlands. One of the specialized restaurants here is especially worthy of mention: Its Japanese.
