Talk about location, location, location. This hotel couldn’t be in a prettier spot if it tried. We’re talking rugged cliffs. Umbrella pines. And waters that change from turquoise to aquamarine to sapphire. Not to mention the sprawl-on-me sands which fringe the cove. In the drop dead gorgeous stakes, it’s fair to say that Camp de Mar takes some beating. Standing proud over this picture-postcard scene is the Grupotel Playa Camp de Mar. A Thomson favourite, guests come back to this place year after year. And while the views are certainly spectacular and the beach is rather gorgeous, they’re not the only draw. The hotel itself is lovely. Take the pool terrace, for instance. Peppered with sun loungers and parasols, and with great sea views to boot, it’s the ideal spot to kick start your tan. Then of course there’s the restaurant. All marble floors and starched white tablecloths, it’s the glamorous setting for sumptuous buffets as well as the weekly gala dinner, Majorcan feast and theme night. The hotel tops the chart in the entertainment stakes, too. From quizzes to cabarets, live music to dance bands, they certainly know how to put on a show here. And it’s not short of a facility or two, either. Slip into your tennis whites for a fun game of doubles. Slide into the whirlpool for a shamelessly decadent spa. Or perhaps join in with a relaxed game of boules. If golf’s more your thing, there’s a course in Camp de Mar where you can work on your handicap.
