 Tthe Ottoman Residence is in an idyllic riverfront setting. The 'Han', which has a central courtyard with surrounding rooms opening into it, is a mansion of Ottoman architecture. Once people enter their rooms they shift from central space to privacy and once they leave their rooms, they are embraced with the central space. The reality of a structure is not in its furnishing, nor its walls, rather in its emptiness.The main purpose when entering the central courtyard through the traditional 'Kuzulu Kapi', is to perceive the rich interior space and the background enriched with the perspective of pool/river. | |
