Les Cretes Villa Ajaccio

Les Cretes / AjaccioAddress: Ajaccio, Corsica, France

When a villa is billed by the owner as a labour of love, you can rest assured that the property will be of the highest quality. Deep in a secluded woodland you will be free from any interruptions. Les Cretes promises nothing but peace and quiet for the duration of your stay. Corsican sunsets are something of a treat and you will be in a prime position to soak them up. What better way to end an evening than with a glass of wine, good company and a beautiful sunset? Although the villas loving owner, Mr Timotei, plans for all modern furnishings in this new building, he has amassed pieces of furniture from his travels and will be adding them to the generous living space. A quirky addition to the sitting area is a fuconu, which is a traditional Corsican fireplace that has been set in the centre of the room, producing an unusual focal point. Another suprising talking point will be two walls made entirely of glass, providing amazing views of the surrounding mountains. All of these magical features are currently in production and are due to be completed in May 2007. Although you are unlikely to be disturbed in your comfortable new home, you are not so far away from the outside world that you cant explore the island yourself. A mere ten minute drive will bring you to the historical town of Ajaccio, home of French hero Napoleon Bonaparte. As you drive into the pretty town you will be drawn into the crystal blue waters contrasting with the green of the lush countryside. Take a stroll through the streets and soak up the atmosphere of the buzzing town. While in this wonderfully historic town it would be a crime not to visit the cultural sights. The Fesch museum was constructed at the request of Cardinal Fesch, Napoleons uncle, to house an institute of arts and sciences. Fesch was a great art lover, who was born in Ajaccio in 1763, and died in Rome in 1839, leaving over a thousand paintings to the town where he was born, which are on display in this fascinating gallery.
