Address: Sartene AJA, Corsica, France
This lovely little hotel, perched on a hillside opposite Sartene - the most Corsican of Corsican towns - fits the bill perfectly for those looking for a comfortable base from which to explore southern Corsica. For over 20 years the Abraini family have been exercising their philosophy that hospitality is an art, which is why they have such a loyal band of guests who return year after year. The welcome at this hotel is thoroughly traditional, although the pool could easily grace the pages of a chic design magazine, with its whirlpool bath, and turquoise water glinting against a vista of evergreen oaks and blue-green hills. In the hot summer months the poolside bar is open, not only for drinks from midday through mid evening, but also for a small selection of salads and light snacks. Glorious, unspoilt white-sand beaches, prehistoric standing stones and dolmens, rock pools and gorges, forest trails and high mountain paths, Campo Moro, Bonifacio, Porto Vecchio, Ajaccio, Bavella: all can be reached within an hour and a halfs drive or less from Villa Piana. This charming hotel is well placed too for lovers of good food as the widely reputed gastronomic restaurant Santa Barbara is less than half a kilometre below Villa Piana. |
