When booking a stay in Tour de Calanca you will be transported back into Corsican history. This property is an ancient stone watchtower that has been wonderfully converted into a unique and romantic villa. With wonderful sea views overlooking the Valinco Gulf, you will feel king of the castle as you stand at the top of the tower and breathe in the stunning surroundings. The property is entered at the ground floor where there is a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. From this floor you will need to take an external stone staircase to the first floor, catching another glimpse of the wonderful view, to the living area. Inside the living room is an attractive working fireplace. An internal staircase leads up to the bedroom, with a further staircase leading up to the roof terrace. Picture an al fresco evening meal at the top of your tower, enjoying the stunning picture-postcard views over the Valinco Gulf. Bliss. Although this property does not have a swimming pool, it has private access to a cove with a sandy beach. The beach is public but the only access is from your tower or by swimming from another beach, which guarantees privacy on your very own deserted island. Apart from the sandy cove the Tour is situated on, it is also a short drive from the beaches of Capicciolo. Take a journey into the heart of authentic Corsica to Olmeto, a granite town steeped in tradition, with a selection of restaurants, shops and cafes that weave their way through enchanting cobbled lanes, past diminutive squares, where you can sit and perhaps enjoy a freshly brewed coffee and a slice of torta castagnina, made from chestnut flour and nuts. The area is a walkers paradise with rambles and hikes through valleys and forests and past wildly beautiful beaches. For a wider choice of restaurants and shops, the coastal town of Propriano is nearby with warm azure waters that lap the unspoilt sands. | |
