Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary islands, with a coastline made up almost entirely of golden beaches. Measuring about 65 miles in length, and only 20 miles wide, it is sparsely inhabited giving it an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Puerto del Rosario is the largest town, situated on the east coast, and is about 3 miles north of the airport. There are a good selection of bars and restaurants, and it is something of a windsurfers paradise
