| Evia is the second largest of the Greek islands after Crete. Situated very close to the shores of mainland Greece, ferry boats from several terminals form the links to the island, and with the help of it's own bridge, it is not only a haven for the British tourist, but a holiday retreat for a lot of the Greeks themselves. With it's large fertile valleys and wooded mountainsides, you will find plenty of peaceful villages to help you unwind, after the often crowded tourist areas. The islands capital Halkida, has several big hotels and is a good starting place to explore the rest of the island.
