The great house of the Marquesses of "La Quinta Roja", nowadays the hotel of the same name, is one of the finest examples of the architecture of the island´s Baroque period.The original building dates back to the 16th century to coincide with the royal grant by King Charles II of the title of Marquess of the "Quinta Roja".The house was never directly affected by the 1706 eruption, which represents a key point and watershed in the fortunes and history of the town.In October 1709 the Sisters of the Order of the Inmaculate Conception took refuge there, in the home of their protector, the Marquess of "La Quinta Roja". After taking over part of the house, the nuns finally moved back to their convent once it had been rebuilt, some 40 years later.A real find, this gorgeous little hotel stands on the village square in the heart of Garachico, the ancient capital of Tenerife. Beautifully converted from a 17th century manor house, the Quinta Roja is built around a lovely galleried patio from which most of the rooms lead off. Whilst all modern conveniences have been added during the conversion, you still feel you are in an enchanting private home here with many original features combined with attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere. There is a fine restaurant, a quaint little bar, rooftop Jacuzzi/sun terrace as well as a fascinating souvenir shop selling all kinds of interesting local artefacts. Garachico itself is a charming seaside village, with cobbled streets, pretty squares many fine restaurants and an impressive cultural programme in keeping with its ancient history. Just 100 metres from the hotel is a public Olympic-size swimming pool and a tennis court. It is also an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Orotava region, Teide National Parkor even driving over the mountains and down to Los Gigantes.We offer guided routes by the Natural Park Of teno, like Masca, teno Alto Hamlet, Monte del Agua.
