Caravel Hotel Limassol

Hotel Caravel / LimassolAddress: Prousis Str. Amathous, Limassol 3608, Cyprus

The soft sand beaches and clear blue waters around this exceptional island have tempted tourists for twenty years or so, but their previous visitors have been coming here for centuries... Loggerhead turtles nest on these gorgeous shores. Village traditions survive in the tranquil north of the island. And the south is sizzling for summer fun. Enjoy the extremes! Read more in our Zakynthos travel guideThere are watersports from the narrow beach of lively Argassi. After-dark turtle activity is often a feature on Kalamaki¿s soft sands. Busy Tsilivi and away-from-it-all Alykes both have gently shelving sandy bays. And there are blissful coves around the island - some accessible only by boat. The shipwreck on the white sands of Smugglers Cove is a "must see" from the sea, while Macarados golden church draws visitors to the heart of the island. In Zakynthos (Zante) Town, the church of (the islands patron saint) Aghios Dionysios is one of only two buildings that survived the 1953 earthquake.Coastline Cruise What better way to spend a day sailing round the island, pausing only to swim and the possibility to see picturesque Smugglers Cove.Caretta Castaway A rare oppurtunity to visit the beach for a talk and slide show on the protected loggerhead turtle, followed by a cruise with lunch to search for these beautiful creatures.Jeep Safari. Go off the beaten track to various villages, with a lunch stop at secluded Porto limioni. But book early, only a few places are available as this sells out fast.A Night at the Oscars Free wine, beer and a show performed by your Airtours reps...this evening is fun, informal and always a laugh.Laganas Heaven and Hell Go from 8pm into the early hours on this trawl of the fun pubs and music bars of LaganasThere are fast food bars in Laganas and Argassi, but elsewhere traditional tavernas are the norm - though they (and some local cafes) offer international dishes. Seafood is complemented here with home-grown vegetable dishes. Try kolokithakia (courgettes in oil & lemon). There are ample shops in all the resorts for the usual Greek hand-crafted items - leather, lace, pottery etc. You may find more choice in Zante Town, but while the island is a natural for sun, sand, sea and scenery, its not renowned for a busy shopping scene.Argassi, south coast Laganas and, to a lesser extent, Tsilivi are the islands best places to party (Tsilivi is just 5 km from the capital). Kalamaki is much more family oriented, and in other resorts the nightlife is distinctly low key - a handful of friendly bars and tavernas. All roads lead to Zante Town... though some are more speedy than others! There are relatively reliable local buses to the capital from the east and south coast resorts (pretty crowded in July and August), but far fewer buses crossing the island. Taxis make an economic alternative for 2/3 people going short distances. The standard and frequency of cleaning and linen change can vary from resort to resort and property to preperty depending on general standards in resort and the A rating of your accommodation. For instance, cleaning and changing of linen in Greece and mainland Spain will be of an acceptable standard, but it may not be as often as other resorts.will usually offer a continental style to include bread, cake, boiled eggs, cheese, ham and tea and coffee. Properties that are of a higher grade may offer a wider selection to include fruits, cereal, juice, yoghurt and a selection of hot food.

The staff in the hotel were miserable and unhelpful apart from one receptionist who only worked a couple of times during the holiday. Our hotel room was pretty basic and the bathroom smelt. My daughters room was more pleasant. At least they both h...See the full report
