Cochem: is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany, capital of the district Cochem-Zell. It is situated in the valley of the Mosel, at the foot of a hill surrounded by a feudal castle dating from 1051. Cochem is one of the liveliest of the Moselle wine towns, with its spring Wine Festival and almost endless possibilities for tasting a huge range of delicious local wines. The town is surrounded by footpaths leading to charming neighbouring wine villages, or deep into the beautiful and unspoilt Eifel and Hunsr�ck regions on either side of the river. Of all the major Moselle wine centres, Cochem lies the closest to the Rhine, which is little more than 30 miles away, making this an ideal base for exploring the scenery � and tasting the wonderful wines � of this lovely region.
