Dalyan Resort

Dalyan Resort / DalyanDalyan Resort is surrounded by pine-clad hills, cotton fields and bullrushes, Dalyan Resort is a lovely little fishing village set on the riverbank near Lake Köycegiz. Facing the village across the river are astonishing rock tombs carved out of the cliffs. These were built by the people of Caria, who founded the city of Kaunos around 6000BC. Situated in the marshes downriver, this ancient site is well worth exploring with its ruined temples, defensive walls, baths, churches and 2000-seat theatre. A 40-minute boat trip takes you to Istuzu beach, whose fine white shelving sands make it ideal for sunbathing and swimming. It is also a conservation area and one of the last nesting grounds of the endangered loggerhead turtle. The best time to see them is at dawn. When you tire of the beach, you can wallow in the hot thermal springs around Lake Köycegiz or visit the mud baths of Ilica. A mudpack followed by a bath at a temperature of about 40°C is great fun and does wonders for the skin!
