Address: Frigiliana, Costa Del Sol, Spain Mainland
Most of our houses around Frigiliana enjoy wonderful views, but Cortijo El Comendaor can lay claim to one of the best, with an almost 360degrees panorama over vineyards and grey-green olive groves to the sea. To the front of the house is a large terrace, shaded through July, August and September, with a magnificent dining table topped with hand-painted azulejo tiles as its centrepiece. The owners, Marie-Carmen and her husband, have thoughtfully provided a built-in barbecue, but should the idea of preparing a meal seem too onerous, even with such a delightful view to enjoy, there is a small bar-restaurant about 300m across the road which serves drinks and light meals in summer. Hidden behind the house is a swimming pool and a further raised terrace area for enjoying an aperitif of sweet Virgen de Malaga wine as the sun drops over the mountains. Inside, the cortijo is decorated with simple, old-fashioned furnishings; the double beds (one iron, one mahogany) are reassuringly solid, and the proudly displayed portraits of the King and Queen of Spain lend a very authentic feel! Modern day conveniences have not been forgotten however - a washing machine has been installed in the little laundry room and the kitchen area provides all the essentials for a relaxed self-catering holiday. Cortijo El Comendaor is close to Casa Celia and these properties are therefore ideal for two or more families wishing to holiday together. |
