There are many things to see and do in Massachusetts from brilliant shops, museums and art galleries to fine dining to suit all tastes. The gateway to New England, Massachusetts was the destination of the Mayflower in 1620 and is one of the original 13 States. It is very diverse, offering everything from cobblestone streets and village greens to space age technology centers. The Berkshire Hills cut across its western corner. To the east the land rolls down to the sea, embracing the State capital, Boston, and the beaches of Cape Cod. The main sport in Massachusetts is Baseball; with the famous Boston Red Socks playing at Fenway Park you could catch a game and eat hot dogs all day. Try out the water sports or go on a boating trip to watch for the whales. There is something for everyone in Massachusetts. There is a wide variety of very good restaurants. Boston has many ethnic communities, and culinary opportunities range from Greek and Portuguese to Chinese and Syrian. Seafood is a specialty throughout Massachusetts, including local lobster, scallops, scrod and delicious clam chowder.
