Situated on the north of the island the natural port was discovered by Christopher Columbas in the 1490s. There are many attractions in the city including the Victorian mansions and the historic fort, Furte de San Felipe. There is a long boardwalk lined with Dominican restaurants, where you can enjoy authentic local food and take in the fabulous views of the port and Atlantic Ocean. Other places to visit are the Brugal Rum Distillery, the Amber Museum, where you can see insects, reptiles and flowers trapped in resin. Take a trip up Mount Isabel de Torres by cable car for the amazing views of the area,and also see the statue of Christ the Redeemer. | |
