A villa with a private pool is a really rare commodity in Cargese, where accommodation tends to be on the simple side. Yet not only does Villa Cala di Sole have its own marvellous pool, it also tends not to simplicity but to luxury. The gorgeous 60 square metre polygonal pool has an Italian tiled terrace and a palm tree in a specially designed poolside feature. The quality of the attractive villa is undoubted because the best materials have been used at every stage. The sliding picture windows are double-glazed, the walls, floors and ceilings have maximum sound and heat insulation and all the ceramics, plus the marble tops for the two shower rooms have been shipped in from Italy. The kitchen is large and beautifully fitted, with more than enough room for all its many mod cons. The splendid sitting-dining room has two comfortable sofas and all four bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. Cargeses sandy Pero Beach, is just ten minutes by foot (less by a short cut), but as Villa Cala di Sole enjoys sea views, as well as having such a superb pool and terrace, most guests prefer the privacy and privilege of staying at home. With its neat tiers of pastel houses climbing up the headland, its carefully tended kitchen gardens, its palm trees, hibiscus and figs and its pretty fishing boats in the harbour below, this large village certainly has its own special atmosphere. Even in the quietest time of the season, Cargese has a pleasant and comfortable air of activity and life and in the evening a gentle stroll around Cargeses backstreets will lead you to an enticing selection of restaurants, pizzerias and cafes. | |
