It was opened in July 1995 and stands on a private 5km long beach sheltered by a coral reef. The hotel covers an area of over 1.5 million square metres and is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, with mangroves trees surrounding the hotel. Bahia Principe is an internationally renowned chain of hoteliers who operate high class 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the world. The Rio San Juan hotel is one of their flagship hotels and amongst the biggest and best beach clubs on the north side of the Dominican Republic. The hotel offers endless possibilities for eating, drinking and sports and is popular with guests from all over the world. The Bahia Principe San Juan hotel has more than 1000 spacious rooms have 2 single beds or one double, air conditioning, fully fitted bathrooms, hair-drier, cable TV (satellite) telephone with direct outside line, minibar, safe (extra charge) and cot rental (on request), and a balcony or terrace. Rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children. The Bahia Principe complex has two lake-lagoon style swimming-pools with separate children’s section, one of these with jacuzzi, and one activities pool, a large sundeck, sunshades, sunbeds and a towel service at the swimming-pools and beach. There is a Mini-Club for children, concert-hall/theatre, entertainment and evening shows. The hotel also has (floodlit) tennis courts, basketball courts, a mini-golf course, football pitch, watersports centre and a fully equipped gym. The hotel offers motorised and non-motorised watersports such as windsurfing (one hour a day), catamarans (one hour a day), sunfish, kayaking, boogie boards, water skiing, learn to dive, tennis, football or volleyball, bodybuilding, aerobics and merengue classes, golf and horse-riding. The hotel offers a full programme of daytime and evening sports and entertainment for adults and children supervised by a team of professional staff The hotel offers the facilities of the San Juan mini club for the enjoyment and healthy entertainment of children. The club has fully qualified staff responsible for entertaining children with various recreational and interactive activities to ensure they enjoy their holiday in a healthy and safe way. The Mini-Club is available to children aged between 4 and 12 years as well as one free hour of baby-sitting between 1900 -midnight. The Bahia Principe Rio San Juan has enviable all inclusive facilities. All inclusive guests will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in rich buffet style at the main restaurant “La Brisa”. There is also an a la Carte dinner served by in the Italian restaurant “El Chiringuito”. Lunch and Snacks are served at the gourmet restaurant “La Orquidea” and at the Mexican restaurant “Rincon Mexicano”. The buffet Beach Restaurant “Casita Blanca” serves American food 24 hours a day (except for breakfast). House wine is offered with all meals. There are 10 bars at the hotel to choose from, serving various locally produced alcoholic drinks including local beer and wine, soft drinks, cocktails, juices and water. All locally produced drinks are also available at Pueblo Principe hotel in the bars: “La Terraza” Bar, Discotheque, Karaoke and Rock Café. Mini bar in the guest rooms is available refilled daily with soft drinks, water and beer. | |
