Sub-tropical Florida - Americas sunshine state is famous for being home to Walt Disney World Resort. However not everybody visits Florida just for the theme parks and water parks. Many people combine a hectic week or two in Orlando or Kissimmee with some relaxation at one or more of the fabulous beach resorts. Among the most popular beach resorts are Clearwater and St. Petersburg on the west coast. Daytona Beach, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami are popular on the east coast. The Florida Keys, on the southern tip of Florida, are spectacular in particular Key Largo and Key West. The best way to see all these places is by hiring a car, for which you will require a valid drivers licence, proof of insurance, a major credit card and be aged over 21. The speed limit on the Interstate highway is 65 miles per hour and strictly enforced. You also need to be aged over 21 to buy and consume alcohol in Florida. Disabled facilities in the theme parks and hotels throughout Florida are generally very good. Other popular attractions outside of the main resorts include the Kennedy Space Centre, the Everglades National Park and, for golfers, the many excellent golf courses. | |
