Paleochora (or Paliohora) is a large village with a population of around 2000 and is located about 74 Km from Chania, on the south part of Crete, behind a Venetian castle on a small peninsula. Below the castle there is a small fishing harbour and an islet to the Southwest. There is also a beautiful long sandy beach and some further pebbly beaches. In Paleochora there is a wide selection of hotels and apartments, along with many restaurants and shops.
