Do not be fooled by the glossy brochure. Although the public lounges and restaurant were good and the hotel & bedrooms clean that"s about it!
The bedding was worn and the towels were so thin that they had to be wrung out before being used again.

The Alexandra Hotel, with it's 78 ensuite bedrooms, is situated between two churches on the quiet north side of Oban Esplanade. Having recently undergone an extensive refit, this Hotel is now fully insulated, rewired, re-furnished, re-carpeted, re-modelled, repaired, re-plumbed, a brand new kitchen and every surface redecorated. The Alexandra Hotel has a large swimming pool and a beautiful new entertainment lounge. The dining room and quiet lounge look out over Oban Bay. The views and sunset are staggering. The Hotel is now regarded as the finest in Oban and was patronised by the Royal Princes this year. All bedrooms are ensuite, of a good size with bath/shower or both, about 40 rooms overlook the Bay. A hairdresser and beautician are available in the evening. | |
