Address: Potami, Skiathos, Greek Islands
Set on a hillside in a lush, green valley, this traditional house is located to afford superb panoramic views of mountains and the distant sea. The stone-built villa is a beautiful example of the areas traditional architecture, and has been furnished in authentic style, with carved wood and family antiques adding character to the interior. The lower floor is of an open plan, split-level design, comprising a living-dining room and kitchen, and the master bedroom is up a few steps. Upstairs, the second bedroom can be found, which itself leads out to a large balcony with a serene aspect of hills and the sea. The villa is set in enclosed grounds, the focal point of which is a large, partially-shaded courtyard, featuring an original stone-built prune oven - a testament to the history of the house. Groves of fig, almond, quince and olive surround the property and add to the profound sense of serenity and seclusion. From the courtyard, on a clear day you may see the island of Evia, with the sound of distant tinkling goat bells to accompany your rural reverie. The villa is just a short drive from Panormos, where a beautiful white-pebbled beach and bay are a necessary stop. A shopping trip may well extend into a longer stay, as you visit the waterfront tavernas of the town. |
