"The Anastasia effect strikes again"

I have lost count of the number of times I have been to this Hotel, however this was by far the most memorable as my Daughter was married on Crete this time round. The hotel staff were really encouraging and very kind to our families on the big day.

Once again the quality of this hotel, the management, and the staff shone through. This hotel is consistently unbeatable for price, value for money, cleanliness, friendliness, and Cretan hospitality.

It has a certain way to relax you and make you chill out. It is a very relaxing place to be.

We had a party of 28 here for the wedding and everyone, without exception thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Several are making plans for a return visit; such is the “Anastasia” magic and winsome effect on those that are fortunate enough to holiday here.

Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely! What are you waiting for?

Visit number four was by far the best so far. I say so far because visit number 5 is at the planning stage. We met a couple from Kilmarnock and a couple from Aberdeen, and we did nothing but laugh the whole time.

The hotel generates a great atmosphere and it is easy to relax at the Anastasia. The staff are top notch, nothing is ever too much bother for them.

There is a warm cretan welcome waiting for you here, and I would never hesitate to recommend this place to anybody.

Well our fourth visit has come and gone. Did we enjoy ourselves....visit number five is in the planning. We intend to go back mob handed this time as a family.

The Anastasia continue to provide an excellent holiday and is great value for money. The hotel is well maintained and is immaculately kept. The maids do a really good job. The food is plentiful, varied and tastes great.

Bearing in mind this is a hotel in Greece visited mainly by Brits, there is a good mix of both styles of cuisine. Breakfast is always my favourite meal on holiday as it sets me up for the rest of the day and the Anastasia does not let you down in this respect.

The accommodation is set out in a series of blocks, in between which is beautifully kept gardens. The hotel sits just south of the main Aghios Nicolas to Hersonissos road, but in between is a service road, tress and a barrier which deadens the traffic noise and keeps pedestrians safe. An underpass gets you to the north side of the road and access to the resort of Stalis proper.

By far the greatest asset of this hotel is the staff, and they cannot be praised enough. It would be stupid to say that they do not make mistakes as no one is perfect, but, I have yet to see or hear of any one of them dropping below the very high standards they have set themselves.

The entertainment is low key, and is nothing like what you get in a large Spanish hotel for instance, but this is Greece and a small family run hotel. There are however some great shows here and well worth watching.

The island of Crete is beautiful and you would do yourself an injustice if you did not get out and about whilst you are here. Locally there is a Minoan Place in nearby malia, only 3 kms from the Hotel.

There is a waterpark in nearby hersonissos. The island of Spinalonga, a former leper colony is a great day out as well. All these are within easy reach. The usual water sports that you would expect on holiday.

The food at the hotel is great as I have already mentioned, but we did eat out twice during our holiday. Once to celebrate a birthday, and once with my daughter when she arrived during our second week.

Four visits to this lovely island and there are still many sights yet to visit.

Would i ecommend this hotel, yes, but wait until I have booked my fifth return visit.

This visit was our second, unusual for us as we rearely return to the same place as we love to try something different each time. This return visit was better than the first, and that visit was first class.

The Hotel sits in well kept gardens and is immaculately clean. The rooms are spread out in a number of accommodation blocks which gives a nice feel. There are 3 pools and numerous sunbeds, so no need to throw towels to reserve them as is the habit of some.

There is access across the main road by means of an underpass, and a bus stop in both directions is only a short walk away.

The staff here are all very attentive and cannot do enough for you. They have a genuine care for you and do their utmost to make you feel at home. The end product is that you feel like an old friend and not a paying guest.

The facilities for a small hotel are outstanding.

i started this review by saying that we had been here already and that we rarely go back to a place twice, well we are off on a third visit this coming september. Enough said!

Check other holiday websites and i guarantee you will hardly find a word said against this well run hotel

We choose this hotel because of other reviews and were not disapointed.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who took us to our room, not provide us with a map and room key. We arrived to late to eat in the restaurant but were provided with a cold buffet plate to eat once we had settled in. A nice touch.
The staff have to be the most friendly, polite and helpful we have met anywhere. You are always greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome and if you want to have a conversation they are happy to stay and discuss anything.
Food was plentiful but does not always cater for the Britsh taste. You have to be able to try different dishes but there was always a good selection of salads to fall back on if nothing took your fancy on the main courses.
The hotel grounds are tidy with a gardener to keep everything colourful and the rooms are kept spotless by a small team of maids. The maids clean the pool area early on in the morning before starting on the rooms. The pool is a good size and was never over crowded during our stay, but there is the usual rush for beds first thing in the morning ( usually the Brits). A smaller pool is provided for those with younger children.
We opted for the bigger family room which had two single beds and a double. This gave us alot more space than normal and didn't cost the earth in extras. It was worth it. The rooms are fitted with air conditioning and a fridge as standard and this was certainly a blessing during the hotter days, especially as you don't get caught out with extra charges on arrival like some other hotels.
Entertainment was basic and geared more towards the Brits. If you wanted to join in you could have a good laugh but during our two weeks most people tended to leave it alone and it seemed to fizzle out towards the end.
This is the first hotel we would go back to straight away for another holiday, we enjoyed our time there that much. This was due mainly to the friendliness of the staff and the feeling of always being made welcome.

Fantastic Holiday Location for Families. This hotel was clean, welcoming, friendly, great for kids, with great food and great staff. The rooms were large by standards we have seen elsewhere. We can't praise this hotel enough. Brothers Billy and Michael (Watch out for their karaoke performance) run the place (and their familiy and children are often on hand and enjoying the facilities) with their fantastic team of staff (especially the waiting staff) to make sure your holiday was perfect. A small complex of about 60 rooms, just a 10 minute walk to the resort and beach via an underpass which ran under the main road. The whole place is washed down daily and is spotlessly clean as are your rooms which are cleaned on a daily basis. There is no noise from surrounding hotels just some from the road when poolside, but cannot be heard from the rooms. Bus stops are close by and we took regular trips on the local buses which are cheap and efficient, most of the conductors spoke sufficient english for us to get by, but remember you bus stop number and to buy your tickets from the office if you start at the bus station. We went half board and the food was varied and plentiful. Everyone soaked up the friendly atmosphere. The Entertainment run by the excellent John from Leicester (previously seen on X-Factor) was low key but there was something on most nights eg. bingo, quiz nights, karaoke. The complex was safe for kids to roam and make friends leaving parents to sit, relax and enjoy.

Book this hotel if you are looking for a fab holiday for your family... This hotel was above all clean, welcoming, friendly, great for kids, great food and great staff. We can't praise this hotel enough and it was our second time there. The immaculate brothers Billy and Michael run the place with their fantastic team of staff and were hands-on making sure your holiday was perfect. A small complex of about 60 rooms on the side of a mountain, just a 10 minute walk to the resort and beach via an underpass which ran under the main road. Therefore no noise from surrounding hotels and yet not too far away to walk to beach, restaurants, bus stop etc. The whole place is washed down daily and is spotlessly clean as are your rooms which are cleaned on a daily basis. We went half board and the food was varied and plentiful. Everyone soaked up the friendly atmosphere, kids made great friends. Entertainment was low key but there was something on most nights eg. bingo, quiz nights, karaoke. The complex was safe for kids to roam and make friends leaving parents to sit, relax and enjoy. Only one gripe (but not about the hotel!) One of the families left their towels on the sunbeds overnight for most of the time, as Queen Bee had to have the best seat in the house, and then proceeded to beckon to her 6, 7 year olds throughout the day to 'fetch that for your mammy, me darling' or 'fetch this for your mammy, me darling'. I think everyone else just turned a blind eye and the staff were too polite to hose down their towels when they cleaned up in the mornings. Good trips out include boat trip to Spinalonga and BBQ, which includes swimming off pumpkin island, although when you book you pay for the trip but they don't seem to tell you that you have to pay for BBQ separately on the coach and as there is nowhere else to eat you could get caught out. Horse riding was good, although as we found out it wasn't really for beginners and you have to cross the busy main road twice and the horses kept spooking. We had a fantastic relaxing holiday and would not hesitate in recommending this little piece of heaven... Hotel Anastasia, and hope to go back again soon. (Gwynedd)

We arrived at the Hotel Anastasia at 3am in the morning, tired and weary but were greeted warmly and quickly shown to our room. A small family run Hotel, and I have to say, if you are booking this hotel, do not hesitate, the entire experience was just perfect, we have had such a wonderful holiday and all thanks to the Hotel Anastasia and all its staff. Our room was a superior room with enough space for all four of us and was spotlessly clean, being cleaned and beds made etc every single day. We went half board and the food was so good we didn't even venture into any of the welcoming restaurants down the road. There was so much choice even for the kids and was well presented and included foods such as moussaka, chicken, pork, different fish, salads, chips, chicken nuggets and spaghetti bolognese and a good selection of sweets. You could just help yourself. The whole atmosphere at the hotel was friendly, relaxed and a happy one, the kids made so many friends and were upset when we had to leave. The pool, not too big but fairly deep, was just right for the amount of people staying there with enough sunbeds to go round and the pool area was always clean. There is a mini market on site which sells just about all you would need and priced reasonably, as is the bar for drinks. We found the drinks to be much cheaper at the hotel than in the resort itself. The hotel was positioned in a quiet location away from other hotels, but in about 5-10 mins you could walk into the resort with many shops, bars, hotels via an underpass which went under the main road, which was quite busy, but not a problem. There was a Happy Train which you could catch at the resort which would take you around Malia for an hour and one which would take you almost into Hersonisson, for a family of four costing 20 euros. All in all we had a wonderful time in Crete and would definitely recommend Hotel Anastasia. We hope to book again soon.
