We have visited The Regent 6 times and are returning this October.. we hope after the refurb it has not changed. We had such great times there. The standard is good, the atmosphere is so relaxed and walk down to the local shops bars and meet the locals wonderful we are so looking forward to our return.. We highly recommend Beach Terrace as a local meeting place and Kings tailors for brilliant craftmanship..

"The Regent Cha'am Beach Resort consists of the main hotel, the Regent Chalet and The Regency..."

The Regent Cha'am Beach Resort consists of the main hotel, the Regent Chalet and The Regency Wing and is a two and a half hour drive from Bangkok airport. All areas are open to all hotel guests and you can get a tuk-tuk from the main hotel to the Regent Chalet.
The three pools you can choose from are located at the three areas of the hotel and are all large and well-maintained. However, the hotel does ask that you use the pool nearest to where you are staying, but at the weekends when the hotel becomes busier with Thai's on their weekend breaks the main pool gets rather crowded and the use of one of the other pools is advised.
There are several restaurants located on the hotel site, all of which offer superb food, however they are slightly more expensive than if you take a short walk out of the hotel to the small village, where there are many restaurants of which three we found to be great value for money ,the food is delicious and the service impeccable. The restaurants are The Bamboo restaurant, Tom Yum Gung, and the Sakthong restaurant. They are all run by local Thai's who are very attentive to your needs.
The hotel itself does not offer any watersports, but they can sometimes be found on the beach. These are run by local people and you are reminded by the hotel that it is your responsibility if anything goes wrong. For those of you who like horse-riding, there are horses on the beach which can be rented for 200baht (about £2!!) for half an hour. Whilst we were there the horses were all in good condition and properly tacked up. If you are not so confident in riding but wouldn't mind in giving it a try there are lead rein rides available as well. However do make sure the care of the horses is to your satisfaction.A range of massages and beauty treatments are also available within the hotel resort.
The hotel is located about 20 minutes from Hua Hin, which can be reached by a taxi recommended by the hotel for 300baht for the round trip. Hua Hin offers good shopping oppurtunities and bartering is not really needed as the prices are very cheap. The night market is worth going to and is on every night from 5.00 til 12.00. You can find all sorts of souvenirs here.
There are several reps which work at the hotel and there are many excellent tours to go on. The overnight stay at the River Kwai is a truly brilliant experience even though the accomadation has no electricity and air conditioning. It is truly back to basics and a tour which is not to be missed!! Other tours include visits to the Sam Roi Yod national park and the Pala-U waterfall.
You should also make sure you go elephant riding at one of the several camps located throughout Thailand. The camps work tirelessly to preserve the Asian elephant and if you are very lucky, taking a tour out into the jungle you may spot wild elephants, but they tend to be more likely spotted at dusk.Wild monkeys can be seen at the roadside, along with other birds and suchlike.
In all the hotel is very good with pleasent helpful staff and we never had a problem. The rooms were kept clean each day by brilliant maids. All the restaurant staff are excellent and do their most to ensure you have a nice meal. Check-out is at twelve noon and if your pick-up is later on in the evening they give you a changing room to sort yourself out.
It is set in lush tropical gardens and is a way off the main road. It runs onto a lovely beach which is hardly busy and there are many shells to be found. However, you do have to be careful in the rainy season as white jellyfish pose a problem in swimming in the sea.
We had an amazing holiday(in the low season) and if you choose this hotel we hope you won't be disappointed. Have fun on your hols! (Derby)
