Sleepy Trpanj port is set at the end of a ravine on Peljesac’s northern coast. Expect crystal-clear water for swimming, good beaches and world-famous wines such as red Dingac. A pleasant sea breeze plays with the corner of your postcard as you sit in one of Trpanj’s cafes on the Riva sipping your espresso and listening to the sea wash over the pebble beach. Attractions at this soothing resort include water so clear you can see your toes; photogenic views of the Makarska Riviera’s dramatic mountains, and tiny stone-and-sand beaches (one suitable for naturists and the rest ideal for reading your book and having a picnic.) Feel like exploring? The nearby Bay of Duba overlooks a small island and is well worth a visit. Or you could board the ferry for Ploce on the mainland and continue your holiday by touring Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina, historic Split or fascinating Dubrovnik.
