"A quiet hotel with residents mainly from Scandinavia: Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden...."

A quiet hotel with residents mainly from Scandinavia: Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden. Apartments with bedroom, living room and a patio that opens directly to the large swimming pool.

There is a boring 200-300 metres walk through a sunburnt field to Ayia Napa's main street, over 1 km to the shopping quarters, a 20-minute walk to the beaches, and 2-3 kilometres to the club district. In that sense the location is not the best possible. Some of the residents seemed to be retired Scandinavian couples that spend a few months in Fedra. For that purpose it must be a nice choice.

The worst thing was definitely the bad hygiene. In Cyprus you are not allowed to put toilet tissue in the toilet seat - you should throw them into a garbage can instead. That should have been emptied daily but it really wasn't. Towels were old, worn and changed only twice during our one-week stay, and so was the bed linen.

I also got quite familiar with cockroaches. There are double mattresses in the rooms, and between the mattresses there resided quite a few of them. These were brown, not very big but very fast and.. well, disgusting. The same cockroaches had quite a party also in the bathroom. Yuk!! Then in the kitchen sink there were much bigger, actually huge, black cockroaches - almost twice the size of a matchbox. In the evening there were dozens of these big black ones by the swimming pool.

The small kitchenette was not good at all. The gas cooker didn't work properly and there was not room to do almost anything.

These were the bad things about Hotel Fedra. The good thing was that the hotel was very quiet, the swimming pool area was cosy, and the staff was friendly, though a bit indifferent. (Helsinki)

This was a last minute booking for 2 star accomodation and I guess that's what we got! The rooms were adequate at best, and kitchen facilities very basic. There was a fridge and 2 gas rings beside a little sink ... with the added bonus of resident cockroaches and ants! Admittedly the cockroaches disappeared a day or two after we'd reported them and some powder was put down, but it's a bit off putting all the same.
The hotels good point was its pool, a big lagoon style which never felt crowded.
The situation was fine ... a short walk downhill brought us to a choice of beaches, and there was a good selection of restaurants nearby too. The Fedra is about 2 kms outside Ayia Napa and it's nightclubs, so fairly quiet.
All in all, an average holiday. (Cumbernauld)
