Apparently the celebration is going platinum next year and is getting a refit. Considering this the ship is still in pretty good condition.

I think that they have started renewing the carpets already.

Been on this ship 3 times now and the food and entertainment is still superb.

The drinks on AI are good as well although doesnt include JD and Baileys.

Shps crew once again excellent.

This was our first cruise and we did Red Sea as we wanted to visit the sights of Egypt and didn't want to stay in Luxor but Sharm on 2nd week.

A lovely ship with friendly staff. Only gripe was not enough sun beds but as we did all the Red Sea trips to Cairo, Petra and Luxor we weren't lounging around much anyway! Food is wonderful in Mistral restaurant.

"RED SEA CRUISE. ..."

RED SEA CRUISE.
The Thomson Celebration does not lack any of the Quality, Service, and Friendliness we have always had on all Thompson Ships. Our cabin steward Irwang on deck 4 was always there with a smile and kept the cabin spotless and tidy. The food available 24/7 was excellent and the service of the waiters and bar staff could not be faulted. And as for the entertainment some of the West End Productions could learn alot from this Team. They can turn their hand to any type of Song,Dance, Play or Game Show a credit to the overall pleasure of being on a Thomson Cruise

EXCURSIONS
The best way to see the Wonders of Egypt and Jordan. First Aqaba for Petra 0730hrs start from the ship and 90 mins drive over the mountains, we had a snow plough in front clearing the road they say it only snows every 3 years just are luck to be this one. The Old City of Petra takes you down through the gorge but well worth the effort, remember to take warm clothing and camera, the return uphill can take about 1 hour, small pony drawn carts, horses and camels will carry you back for £10. Young children pester you all the time to buy post cards and lumps of rock Only 1 English pound. A good buffet lunch awaits you at the end of your walk long day 10+hrs £88

Next Cairo 0730hrs start 2-3hrs drive we went on the Pyramids, Mosque & Nile trip. First stop at the Mosque, cameras canbe used inside, and views over the city if the dust and pollution cloud moves away. Next onboard a Nile Cruise boat for Lunch and Egyptian show while you sail along the Nile. After lunch the Pyramids and Sphinx very crowded and hot also lots and lots more children asking for 1 English pound for postcards.

On your return through the City you will see the houses and how they live. Lookout for the Pigeon lofts built on the roofs and the men waving flags to attract them home at dusk. 11hrs. £80

Last big trip Luxor, Valley of the Kings & Karnak. 0630hrs start 3-4hrs drive. NO Cameras No Video allowed into the Valley of the Kings All to be left in coach.Entrance gives you ticket to go into 3 tombs. Tutankhamun tomb is very small not worth the £10 exrta charge. You next travel to the Temple of Queen Hatchesut where you can use your cameras worth the walk up the steps to see.

The alabaster shop is next VERY High Prices then onto Lunch over looking the Nile. We now get to what I consider the best Karnak. You have seen it on films but to see and touch it takes your breath away. To stand at the bottom of over 100 columns and wonder how they were built and look at the carvings as clear as when they were fist worked on. This was the longest day trip I have ever been on in over 45 years 0630 - 2130 15 hrs but THE BEST

NOTTS

Very good always enjoy Crusing and the Thomson Celebration was on of the best I've been on.

Very big ship so there's plenty of room to go walk abouts, and the food was out of this world. Excellent choices on the menu and always topped up if starting to dwindle.

Pools & excursions were great and the staff ensued we always had something to do, if you wanted to.

Boked again for next year.

This was our 2nd Thomson Celebration cruise and just as enjoyable as the first. Ports of call were Tunisia, Rome, Barcelona, Livorno, Palma and should have been Marseille but workers were on strike so went to Toulon instead which was nice. The all inclusive package is an absolute bargain if you can get it 'free' as they say. As per usual the staff made up of Indonesions and Phillipinos were fantastic and also very talented as they showed in their cameo role in the broadway lounge one night. Food was excellent as usual and first class entertainment. Although Thomson cruises are probably a lot cheaper than many of their counterparts they really do a great job with everything they do on board. As easter was a little early this year the weather was bright but chilly and you certainly needed a coat in some places . The sea was also a bit choppy for time of year. All in all a fantastic holiday.

"We done a Cruise & Stay with Thomson, 7 day cruise from the 20th December 2007 (Christmas on..."

We done a Cruise & Stay with Thomson, 7 day cruise from the 20th December 2007 (Christmas on board) then a week A/I at the Jaz Mirabel Beach in Sharm el Sheikh. From checking in at Stansted till our return (including excursions to Petra & Cairo) Thomson made everything run so smooth.
We had an outside cabin on the 3rd deck (Cabin 504) the housekeeping was excellent (our cabin boy 'Robbi' couldn't do enough for us), the food was excellent, variety and well presented, hot food was hot and cold food was chilled as it should be. We never heard of anyone having stomach upsets the whole 7 / 8 days.
The crew mainly Filipino & Indonesian just could not do enough for you, 5* care all day everyday! The waiter who serves you breakfast at 7am will be serving you dinner at 9pm and he will look as smart and be as cheery as he was 12 hours before, marvellous!
The shows were second to none, and in the main they done an excellent job at trying to please all of the people all of the time.
It was not all elderly people, many retired people but then there seemed to be a lot of younger people, a great mixture I think.
If I had to find something to moan about it would be the prices the Ships Photographer charged for the formal photo's prior to the Gala dinner / Captain's Cocktail party £13.95 each was I though a bit steep. The others at about six quid weren't so bad.
The excursion to Petra seemed expensive £72 per Adult (fortunately my children just got in as children 14 & 15yrs so we paid half price for them) £216 for one trip was a lot of money for a day out. Having said that again the trip went like clockwork and we were safe so I guess I wont moan too much.
The ship was refitted in 2005 when Thomson got it and I understand its being refit October (ish) 2008 more of a case of prevention rather than cure because we didn't see anything suffering from wear'n'tear.
I have seen reviews giving the 'Celebration' 3/10 saying it was like Butlins & being dirty - Don't believe a word of it! I am very careful who gets our Holiday Money and I'd be happy to spend it with Thomson's next Christmas 2008.
The Celebration crew made our second week in a 5* hotel feel like a 2* hotel'
We think we got what we paid for from this holiday and to us that all that matters. We'll be back!

We flew from Aberdeen to Palma with no delays, embarkment well organized, got shown to our room which was on deck 3 iside cabin, 2 sets of bunk beds, onsuite shower and toliet and plenty of storage space. We choose to eat at the buffet restraunt most of the time, plenty of choice and always hot, the staff were always polite and very helpful.
The entertainment onboard was excellent especially the showteam in broadway showlounge, putting on a different show each night. Very talented and professional.
We did some of the Thomson organised trips, but found them to be a bit expensive to do all the time, you can quite easily get about on your own in most of the places that we visited. We chose to go on the organised trip to Sorrento and Pompeii, which was very interesting, and the memories of Menorca. Having been on the Thomson Spirt the previous two years around the Med we had already done place like Rome, Piza, Nice, St Tropaz etc, so decided just to do our own thing this time around. It is best to find out on the internet before you go what there is to do on your own.
We always joked about the fact that it seemed to be every time you left your cabin the steward would come in and clean, clean towels every day, I wanted to take him home with me!
The Captains cocktail party was the only time you felt like you had to dress up formally, some quests would be wearing Tuxedos, bow ties, full kilt rig, ballgowns, fancy evening dresses etc. Others wore shirt, tie, dress trousers (with or without jacket) nice top and trousers/skirt for the ladies would do fine. Its up to each individual, the odd few just didn't bother making even the slightest effort - t-shirt and jeans.
Disembarkment also went very smoothly and weel organised.
Overall the Cruise ship and the staff very very nice in both the Thomson Celebration and the Thomson Spirit and I can't wait to go aboard again in 2008. What else can I say except the fact that we keep going back must mean someting we will have been on the Spirit three times and the Celebration once, both exceptional but we have to meet up with the ship that suits our holiday dates.
Well done Thomson, thanks for the lovely holidays aboard.

I've just been on a cruise Thomson Celebration to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. I can honestly say it was excellent. The staff couldn't do enough, the entertainment was excellent and the shows were better than I've seen on local theatres, theatres in London and on Broadway. In terms of culture you certainly get that on this cruise. The food was excellent and I found nobody on the cruise had a single complaint. In terms of value for money it was excellent, I doubt if you will be disappointed. (LIVERPOOL)

This was the first time we have been on a cruise and i have to say it won't be the last. The Thomson Celebration is a fantastic ship and absolutely spotless from top to bottom. The staff on board are mainly from Indonesia and cannot help you enough. They were genuinely very friendly and very pleasant. The food on the ship was excellent and a choice of three restaurants available. The Lido restaurant was the self service buffet and was superb. Captains night was in the Meridian restaurant and was also excellent. The entertainment on board was first class and you won't find anything as good in any hotel, no matter what star. It was done very professionally. The places we visited, Denmark, Norway and Sweden were all superb with plenty of culture. Beware in Oslo though as it is very expensive. I would recommend the Thomson Celebration to anyone although it must be said the majority of the clientele were elderly, this didn't make any difference. One of the staff said the Destiny and the Emerald are for the younger fraternity.
