This is a lovely hotel. Has a spectacular lobby area!! It is very much a Venezuelian hotel, but that isn't a bad thing. The hotel is very clean, no complaints there. The food is good, especially the Fogon, and the Beach Bar. The buffet can get a bit busy. The beach is also beautiful, and has lovely surroundings, set in the mountains.
Only complaint - there was a problem with things being stolen in the rooms while I was there. There was three other English families, they all had things go missing, and I had an MP3 go missing - which was placed back in my closet when I complained, the security put pressure on housekeeping to put it back. I was told that the member of staff had been dealt with the next day. So hopefully this problem is over with now.
Margarita - is beautiful. And it is amazingly different in the North and South. Where we stayed, it was lush and green, set in moutains. The part they call the other side, is desert like.
Excursions - you just have to use marcostours!!!!! - Don't book with anyone else. I had contacted Marco just before we went away. And he contacted us at the hotel after we arrived. The day before we was due to go on the around the island tour with him. I broke my tooth at breakfast on bacon (ok - that part of the food I wasn't happy with!). It was a Sunday, the hotel told me they couldn't do anything, I phoned my Rep, she said she couldn't do anything until the Monday. My tooth was broken bad, and part of it was hanging inside my mouth. I was in a bit of state, scared to talk, let alone eat or drink. We phoned Marcos to tell him we couldn't go on our tour. He said 'no problem, I will find someone' - within ten mins, he had phoned our room asking us to go downstairs and meet him, he was outside. He took us to a dentist in Porlimar, he had arranged for a dentist to come and open up and sort it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He did all the translating, which was great, and waited for over an hour while the dentist worked (which was an amazing job, reconstructed my whole tooth - which wouldn't be done in the UK with a resin kind of stuff) this cost just over £100 - which you would probably pay just for an emergency appointment in the UK. He refused to take any money for doing this for us. Beyond the call of duty, he is great.
The around the island tour was fantastic, the best day of our holiday. We got to go on a boat ride around the Restinga Lagoon, we held starfish and sea horses, then taken for our best meal of the holiday! We fully recommend this trip, and it is far cheaper than First Choice, and you see far more. He also combined this for us with the swimming with dolphins at Waterworld.
We did also book a snorkling boat ride with him too, for the kids and they had great fun. Considering the boat captain and the crew spoke hardly no English they were brilliant with my toddler and he loved it. He really is the man to know in Margarita, and is so interesting.
Shopping - we did go to the mall, but found it a bit expensive, I think maybe we should have tried the avenues instead - but the Sigo market is great value.
A truly amazing holiday, we actually got an extra day as our flight was cancelled for 24 hours.
I am also disabled, I use a wheelchair and crutches, they were excellent at the airport and fast tracked me and my family through imigration. And the hotel had ramps and lifts, I had no problems getting around. The towns were not bad for getting around either, compared to other places I have been too!!
My New husband and I went to Hesperia Isla Mararita this year for our wedding and honeymoon. After reading some of the reports I wondered once I arrived if we were at the same resort.
The hotel is fantastic and the Staff were friendly, well mannered, great fun and most of all they spoke really good English, much better than my Spanish.
The rooms were spacious and immaculate, also they were cleaned when you requested, any issues which people had were resolved quickly and without a worry.
The Spa was great, beach great and the nighttime and day time entertainment was great for kid of all ages even the grown up kind.
This was the perfect place to go if you wanted peace and quiet with the option of partying until the small hours.
For our wedding the hotel pulled out all the stops and there were lots of little extras which the hotel did for us to make our stay that extra bit special.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and to prove this we are going back again next year as we liked it so much.
A near total disaster!!! A total misrepresentation of what the brochure depicts and states! Not the place to go for Peace and Quiet and certainly not for the finer things in life!(as stated in the brochure) If you are looking for a long distance, overpriced Clud Med then head to the Isla Margarita the place for overweight, beer drinking slobs of society mixed in with those who have been lost along the way of finding a perfect holiday on a tropical island in the sun!
Thank heavens we took a trip to Venezuela to stay the night in the jungle as this superceded our expectations making us realise what we had to go back to! Hence moving accommodation for the last remaining 4 days of our trip. The jungle gave us what we were looking for 'Peace, Quiet and Relaxation'.
Time is precious to some of us and time may not always be on your side, in these cases this would be a real disaster as for some it may not be here again to be had, or enjoyed!!!
This holiday was supposed to be a fixit, a time to rejuvenate after a few long months or personal termoil and it didn't even touch us! Too much time wasted attempting to rectify the disasterous situation.
If you do want a full report and run down with digital photos, this can be provided!
The hotel is graded a 5* but i can assure you its not when you get there its more like a 2*. The rooms are of a very low standard with dirt, dust and hair galore plus the bathroom has hard caked scum on the taps and bath area not very pleasant. There are stray dogs that lounge around the pool area and leave there faeces lying about the grass.
The pool area for kids is great they have competitions and music all day long but when its just a couple with no children this can get a bit annoying when all you want is peace and quiet as advised by our tour operator.
Entertainment well lets just say there was hardly any of that - i mean if you understand spanish then thats ok because there's karaoke every night in spanish, nothing for english people entertainment wise. The beach is dirty and the locals use it too.
The highlight of our holiday was Angels Falls and the Jungle, this was absolutely fantastic not to be missed.
