Barbados Beach Club is located in the parish of Christ Church, adjacent to the St. Lawrence Gap. It is the ideal departure point for a host of tourist attractions, shopping areas and epicurean destinations.

We found it expensive to eat out and would recommend hotel half board if possible. Barbados is good for young people with plenty of nightlife. The accommodation was good.

Barabados is a wonderful vacation choice, but not the Barbados Beach Club. This hotel was rated 3-4 stars by the web sites that we researched. It is MAYBE 1-2 stars in reality. The place is really a dump, they made no effort in decor or landscaping. We went all inclusive and the food is bad (NO variety and of poor quality). If you don't make it to the scheduled time for meals or you don't like it (which is almost a guarantee), you are out of luck b/c there is no beachside grill for another option. There is an italian and seafood restaurant as options on certain days but there were equally terrible. We ended up eating out alot - the local food is wonderful, I don't know why they can't cook. I believe the desserts were created in a lab!! The 'gym' had a couple of ultra cheap borderline dangerous tread mills, etc but was not air conditioned - not even a FAN! We almost passed out! The male hotel staff was friendly, but not the females. The best job on the island is to be their activity director b/c there LITERALLY WERE NO ACTIVITIES! Every night they played bad music and everyone just sat around and stared at each other. The water on the south side is rough, but it was alot of fun if you are a competent swimmer. The watersport guys were not helpful unless you are wanting to be hit on or buy drugs. They smoked weed all day on the job and tried to sell it to us daily. We had to walk down to the next beach to get any help or instruction with equipment. We requested an ironing board on the first day and they would only let us keep it for about an hour - I think there were only 2 in the entire resort and they were both jacked up! We often waited hours to get one. When taking a shower you would get scalded about every 2 minutes. If you are looking for low budget and are ok with it, then here's your spot. They paid no attention to detail and cut corners at every turn. We enjoyed every minute that we were not at the resort, however. The people of Barbados were kind and honest, and the island beautiful. If we ever go back it will NOT be to Barbados Beach Club.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Beautiful location on the beach, great food and nice, clean, comfortable rooms. The crowning glory of this hotel really is the staff and the Bajan people in general. So friendly and helpful, they made our stay an absolute pleasure. Bar staff were particularly wonderful and we left feeling like we'd made new friends. If you're still deciding-JUST GO! I guarantee you'll have the holiday of a lifetime. (Glasgow)

"GENERAL : For those people who want affordable all inclusive accommodation, in clean friendl..."

GENERAL : For those people who want affordable all inclusive accommodation, in clean friendly surroundings then this is it. This was our first time 'all inclusive' and we were both very impressed. We used the hotels guest services to book a trip to The Garrison Savannah to watch an afternoons horse racing and it cost us around £7 each. We also used the hotels free shuttle bus to and from Bridgetown - very handy, which you also book through guest services. We also booked our island tour by coach through the hotel instead of our tour operator and paid only BD$30 each, the highlight of which was a picnic on deserted Bath Beach with the other people on the tour - 8 in total. Highlight of our trip must be the island tour by Helicopter - booked direct with Bajan Helicopters - it was slightly expensive at BD$180 but worth every penny - it was absolutely fantastic and one we will never forget! If you're a cricket fan don't forget to ask directions in Bridgetown to The Kensington Oval - although the ground was officially 'closed' the gates were open and we could enter and take photos and video my husband loved it here.

HOTEL : My husband is a fussy eater but he found something to eat at every mealtime. Food is plentiful, hot and delicious. There is either roast beef/pork/lamb on the menu every night (plus vegie / fish / salads / pasta / rice / potatoes) and the puddings are to die for, and one night a week they cook steaks on the grill. For breakfast there are fruit, cereals, toast, marmalades, scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, plantins and there is someone there to cook you omelettes, pancakes and fried eggs if you wish. For lunch again there is enough to tempt you.

You are told that you have to pay for cocktails and any 'non-local' drinks, but I was drinking Bacardi Rum and Coke but this wasn't the case.

Rooms are large and spacious and kept very clean every day. Bathrooms also. Towels are changed regularly, infact ours were changed every day.

We went out one night for a meal to The Ship Inn at St Lawrence Gap and had 'The Captains Carvery' - at BD$42 each - we had lamb, beef and pork carved onto our plate and helped ourselves to loads of vegetables - we were asked if we wanted seconds but that was enough. I don't eat lamb at home but the lamb here and at the hotel was simply delicious. But it is expensive overall, to eat out on a room only basis.

Overall, we are very impressed with Virgin and The Barbados Beach Club. I can't praise this hotel and its friendly staff highly enough.

NOTE: take US dollars with you as there are : approx BD$1.98 to USD$1 AND don't forget the duty free shopping in Bridgetown at Cave Shepherd and Harrisons.

We arrived in Barbados not knowing what to expect, as this was our first time. Barbados Beach Club was absolutely fantastic and I loved every minute. The staff were lovely, the beach was great and the food was varied. We actually got married whilst in Barbados and everyone we met made our day special, we will never forget it. We hope to return there one day (soon I hope!)
