REVIEW BY: VA Millett, Surrey - January 2009
We were in Essaouira for the annual Gnawa Music Festival. Riad Remy is run by a Mancunian couple and is deep in the heart of the old medina, in a maze of alleyways. It's a beautiful restored riad, with superbly presented rooms, distinctive ensuite facilities and a great roof terrace.
A kitchen is available for those who wish have a go at cooking the amazing fresh fish, meat and vegetables available in the souq.
Our hosts know the town well and know their Moroccan neighbours and can recommned good places to eat or shop.
Essaouira is a great place to relax, particularly after the sense-assaulting craziness of Marrakech and Riad Remy is recommended as a great place to stay.
